Greetings from "The Home" front...
Wasn’t that little bit of warm weather a nice change – too bad it didn’t last very long!! But hopefully spring will be here soon!
Pam was here on Sunday to sing and play her guitar for our residents. They certainly love those old fashion sing-alongs! On Monday, after Newscurrents, our resident cooks made pretzels – I missed out on the action but I heard they tasted yummy! There was also table top activities and Bingo in the evening. Bruflat Church certainly raised the bar at the Auxiliary Birthday Party on Tuesday. In honor of Mardi Gras the MPCG Jazz Band was invited to perform and what a performance they did! The dining room was alive with toe tapping and hand clapping. A very special thank you to these young men and women for coming to share your talent with our residents. Bruflat ladies also served a “moon pie” dessert with colorful Mardi Gras napkins and plates – it was an event to remember. Ash Wednesday brought an early evening service at 6:30 pm. Thank you to the Mayville/Gran parish for hosting Lenten Services with Luther Memorial Home. Prior to that we had Name That Tune with Nancy and a rousing game of Bunco in the afternoon. Elaine was here for Trivia on Thursday morning and Pam came to help with popcorn and Pretty Nails in the afternoon – plus we had Bingo in the evening. It must be the end of the month because the American Legion/VFW were here for $$$ Bingo on Friday afternoon. This popular activity usually fills the dining room with bingo players. We had Mass and Church in the morning also. On Saturday, Andrea will be here for Pass the Pig game at 2 p.m. This hilarious game is a favorite of our residents and no one leads it better than Andrea. There is also Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 in the dining room on both Saturday and Sunday. We are serving coffee, ice cream and some new delicious treats – stop by and check them out.
Stordahl church is providing music on Sunday at 2 p.m. in our chapel. The event is open to the public and we would love to have you come. Monday, March 2, is Dr. Seuss Day – so wear your favorite hat! We have Newscurrents in the morning and a Dr Seuss social in the afternoon – that sounds like a hoot. “You do not like them. So you say. Try them! Try them! And you may!!”. We follow that with table top activities and Bingo in the evening. “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” There is Rhythm Band and Sit & Be Fit on Tuesday. Nancy leads Choir on Wednesday morning and Molly will be doing Crafts in the afternoon. Who know what those crafty residents will be making. We also have Bunco later on and then a Lenten Service after supper at 6:30 in the chapel. Pastor Deb leads Bible Study on Thursday and we have special music Thursday afternoon by “Harmony”. Oh My – I see we are also having Leprechaun Races later in the day! Hope those little rascals do not get out of control! After Mass and Church on Friday there is Pretty Nails and Happy ½ hour. Looks like a fun filled week!
There are no resident birthdays this first week of March but Sun Center residents Marlys Hlavinka and Robert Aasen will be celebrating theirs. Marilys birthday is March 4th and Robert’s is March 6th. We also have two staff members with birthdays next week – Wanda Freadrich on March 1st and Marcus Dale on March 4th.
Our sympathy to the friends and family of Dale Bakkum who passed away February 19th. Dale’s wife, Nora, was a long-time nurse here at LMH. They enjoyed many good times at Lindaas Barn dances. Rest in Peace Dale.
Until next time … a thought for the week … Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road of life is paved with flat squirrels who could not make a decision …
