Greetings from "The Home" front...
Whew! I’m exhausted!! This week was National Nursing Home Week and have we ever been celebrating!
On Monday it was Pitch in and Wear your favorite team Shirt! There was the usual Bison, Sioux, Twins, Vikings, Green Bay and Bears shirts but only one Seahawk (I wonder whose!). We had Newscurrents in the morning followed by Hallway Popcorn delivery and Bingo in the evening. HeeHaw!! Tuesday was Western Day with Horseshoes and Root beer floats. Wednesday, the residents and staff wore LMH t-shirts to celebrate LMH Day. This was the day that staff would have been recognized for years of service and caregiver appreciation awards – but since the corona virus limited gathering – we will have that event later in the year. We did have Hallway Karaoke and Ice Cream Sundaes tho! Aloha Thursday was you guessed it – Hawaiian Day! Very colorful clothing with picture taking and a Tropical Luau beverage Cart making stops at every room. Crazy Socks and Balloon Day filled up Friday. In addition, we had church in the morning and cotton candy and pop in the afternoon. It certainly has been a busy and fun filled week!
Next week there is Newscurrents and Hallway Bean Bag Toss on Monday. Plus Bingo in the evening. Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band are on Tuesday. Nancy plays for Name That Tune on Wednesday morning and the Men’s Club will be making beverage coasters on Wednesday. Bible Study Thursday morning and the ladies will get their nails painted in the afternoon. Chris Larson will lead a church service on Friday. After dinner we hope to be able to go outside to do some planting in the courtyard. The seeds we planted a few weeks ago and are germinating on the activity room window ledge are really growing. Of course, with this famous North Dakota weather it may be snowing!
We certainly appreciate the cards and gifts you have bestowed on our residents and staff to let them know you are thinking of them. Mrs. Vadnie’s kindergarten class made butterflies to distribute to our residents and we have also received cards/crafts from a 3rd grade student. The residents appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you to Finley Motors for the beautiful bouquet of flowers in honor of our Nurses and first responders. They are at the nurses station for all to enjoy.
Only two birthdays next week. Sun Center resident David Wiggen has a birthday May 22 and staff member Grace Lovro has her birthday May 21st. That’s it for this week!!
Until next time … a thought for the week … Someday is not a day of the week …
