Greetings from “The Home” front –

Negative – Negative – Negative – that’s what makes it so Positive – Positive - Positive!!! Are you confused??? We had negative results from our last Covid-19 testing of residents, staff and Sun Center tenants so we are POSITIVELY happy! LMH still remains in Phase 2 , due to positive cases in Traill County we are unable to move into Phase 3. So please EVERYONE reading this – please wear a mask and practice social distancing. If not for your own safety – think about your loved ones and others who may be medically fragile. We want those Traill County number to go down.

Thank you to the Summerfest Committee for routing the parade on Saturday past Luther Memorial Home. Our residents love parades and this year it was all the more meaningful and special. So again, THANK YOU!

We are trying new activities this week at LMH and bringing back some of our old favorites. Monday started out with folding and coffee time and then to get in shape for the rest of the week we had Sit & Be Fit. We also played a rousing game of Wheel of Fortune and there was Bingo in the evening. Andrea read News currents Tuesday morning and Nancy played for Rhythm Band in the afternoon. Happy Birthday Esther Slaughter! There was a new activity on Wednesday afternoon called Twisted Tales. Molly read the story of the Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig plus the true story of the three little pigs as told from the wolf’s point of view. The residents also had a word search puzzle and coloring page to go with the stories. On Wednesday morning we had another session of Sit & Be Fit – it has been proven that the more active and fit you are – the less likely you are to have balance issues or falls. We want to keep our residents upright and safe. Pastor Deb was here for Bible Study on Thursday and the ladies were able to get their nails done at Pretty Nails in the afternoon. Friday brings Mass and Church and then Happy ½ hour! Happy Birthday Harriet Ulland and Liz Hanson! Throughout the week the residents were able to face time and zoom with their family members. Saturday brings Sit & Be Fit in the morning along with coffee time and then Bingo in the afternoon. We will also have a 3 p.m. movie matinee. Remember too that we are now able to have in room visits plus outdoor visitation with our family and friends. Contact the LMH receptionist to schedule a time for an indoor visit and the LMH Activity Dept for an outdoor visit time. We hope to see you soon!

We have quite a few birthdays next week. Three residents will be celebrating – Betty Dahl on the 12th and Arlene Olstad and Hadley Verwest on August 14th. Helen Knudsvig in Sun Center has her birthday on August 8th. There are several staff members with birthdays coming up – Dawn Carter (August 8), Jennifer Carr and Sylvia Straight (August 9th); Jean Holter (August 10th); Sandy Abbas and Melinda Donohue both on August 12th; Kyle Eken (August 13) and Melissa Schmidt on August 14th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

Until next time … a thought for the week … The greatest inspiration is often born of desperation …
