Greetings from “The Home” front …
We are gearing up for a lot of fun and special events at LMH this week!
Sunday brought us a round of Baseball Detective, an “I Spy” game of sorts where we had to hunt for baseball related items. On Monday, we played a round of Jeopardy in the morning and then Lysa brought her spinning wheel in to show the residents and staff how it works and shared some soft and squishy fibers for everyone to feel. There were a lot of great questions about this art; none of the residents had tried spinning in their lives! Tuesday was a busy and exciting day – we got to have a food truck in our courtyard! Eastside Diner came from Grafton to serve delicious food for our residents and staff, everyone enjoyed their food and can’t wait for them to come back! Tuesday afternoon, we went on a countryside drive. We stopped at Nancy Bjerke’s house to see her beautiful flowers, thank you for sharing that with us! We also got to check the crops and stopped by Gran Lutheran for a little ice cream treat. Father Bob Smith was here for Mass on Wednesday morning and then we played Name that Golden Oldie; residents had fun listening to music and reminiscing to songs. We also made a cute ice cream cone craft and activity staff went shopping for residents later in the afternoon. Thursday brought Bible Study with Pastor Deb and the ladies got their nails done at Pretty Nails. We also played a few rounds of table hockey, that was fun (and competitive!) Pastor Deb led a Church Service on Friday morning and Lysa played the piano in the afternoon. There is Sit & Be Fit on Saturday, followed by Bingo and TWINS Categories.
Next Sunday, we have Karaoke with Chichi. It’s always fun to hear what songs everyone picks to sing along to. On Monday, we have Rhythm Band in the morning followed by Men’s Club and a round of indoor volleyball in the afternoon and bingo in the evening. Tuesday we have NewsCurrents and then the Ohana Shaved Ice truck will be here outside LMH, we will be busy helping residents get a treat in the afternoon. This is also open for the community, hopefully everyone can come and enjoy a summer treat! We will finish off our day with a resident favorite – the dice game Bunco. Father Bob is back for Mass on Wednesday morning and then we have Choir. Our residents will be making a craft in the afternoon and staff will go on our weekly shopping trip for residents. Thursday morning brings us summertime trivia and in the afternoon, we will have Pretty Nails and play a State Plate game. We also have Bingo in the evening. There is Church on Friday and the guys from the American Legion and VFW will be here to play Legion Bingo with us, we always look forward to seeing them!
Birthdays coming up this week include resident Helen Sharpe on the 22nd and staff members Harley Parrow on the 21st, Megan Evans on the 22nd, and Jaclyn Rindy and Connie Christianson on the 23rd. Happy birthday to you all and we hope you enjoy your special day!
Until next time … a very insightful thought from Henri Nouwen …. “In solitude we discover that our life is not a possession to be defended, but a gift to be shared”.
