The Home Front..

This “warm” weather is certainly a nice change from those below zero temps – hope it sticks around for a while.  Our residents are enjoying the beautiful sunny days – the courtyard and snowcapped trees make a lovely sight.

The Snowman Snacks we made at kitchen cappers on Monday were so cute – we almost didn’t want to eat them.  It is amazing what you can do with marshmallows!  Also on Monday there was Newscurrents, Lotion in Motion and Bingo in the evening. Tuesday brought Sit & Be Fit, Rhythm Band and 1:1 visitations.  The residents made chalk sketches on Wednesday – they had the choice of making them into a greeting card or a wall hanging.  We have some very creative people at LMH.  We also held Jet set Club for our younger residents , they sure enjoyed the bacon cheeseburgers with all the fixings, French fries and chocolate malts.  The Men’s Group met later on and we talked about airplanes, how they are built and then attempted to fly some paper ones!  Elaine continued reading “The Story” on Thursday morning and we celebrated Pauline Argenziano’s  102nd Birthday with special music by the Wahls in the afternoon.  Happy Birthday to a very special lady!   Friday brought Church, Pretty Nails and Happy ½ Hour.  Saturday Pam will be here for special music and our movie matinée is Wilderness Family. It’s the story of a family who gets tired of living in the congested city and moves to the Canadian wilderness and how they  adapt to living without the amenities of the city.  There are many trials and tribulations to overcome. There is always Kaffee Hus from 2-3:30 on both Saturday and Sunday.  I am a bit late in thanking Rose Kerlin for the delicious pies she brought a couple of weeks ago to Kaffee Hus - they were a bit hit!  Thanks Rose for your thoughtfulness.

Next week we have Newscurrents, Lotion in Motion and Bunco on Monday. Sit & Be Fit and Rhythm Band on Tuesday.  There is a new topic on Wednesday – we be chatting about opposites and why they attract.  Mary and her “gang” will be here for quilting in the afternoon.  Elaine continues reading “the Story” Thursday morning and the van is going to Portland in the afternoon to play Bingo!!!   We will also have Name That Tune later in the afternoon.  OMGosh the VFW will be here on Friday the 27th to play real bingo- that means the month of January is almost over!!!  Can you believe it – seems like we were just celebrating Christmas!!  Soon it will be Valentine’s Day – where does the time go!

In addition to Pauline‘s birthday on the 19th,   we have another birthday to celebrate this coming week: resident Marlan Fugleberg has his birthday on January 22.   Staff member Geri Voltz celebrates her on January 24th and Dawn Demarce on the 27th.   Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!

We were all saddened by the sudden passing of resident Phyllis Enger who died on January 11th.  Phyllis was a sweet lady with a friendly hello for everyone.  She enjoyed all of our activities from music, crafts, and bingo to Kaffee Hus.  She will definitely be missed.  There was a prayer service here Monday night in her memory.  Rest in Peace Phyllis.
Until next time … a thought for the week … you are your only limit …
