Greetings from “The Home” front …
Our residents have been enjoying many of the Christmas events this past week – Rachel Winger and her piano students were here on Sunday for a piano recital. It is always fun to see the youngsters perform. Later on Perry Church and Portland Parish members came by to serenade everyone with carols throughout the hallways.
On Monday there was newscurrents in the morning and in the afternoon many of the residents helped tie fleece scarves. These scarves will be given to children throughout the area to use in this especially cold weather. Our resident council wanted to do something special for children and decided that making scarves would be a great project.
A special thank you to Lori Powell and her Mary Kay customers who brought Mary Kay hand lotion and Chap Stick for our residents. What a wonderful gift!
Tuesday was Sit & Be Fit in the morning. Then the Christmas “Grinch” came to LMH in the afternoon with many of our residents having coughs and colds. We are restricting visitors at this time. Our activity elves visited with the residents in their rooms and brought some Christmas cheer to them. They brought word search games, puzzles, coloring pages and most of the residents participated in a guessing game.
Wednesday morning Aasen Drug employees Lori Skadeland and Diane Young delivered 5 large boxes of gifts. The Angel Tree presents will be given out to our residents on Thursday. Thank you to Aasen Drug for sponsoring the LMH Angel Tree and to all those who purchased gifts. The activity santas delivered Yulekakka bread , cookies and cocoa to rooms.
Next week we hope to be back to “normal” – especially with Christmas and holiday visitors arriving. If you are planning on visiting a loved one, please call ahead to see if the vising restriction has been lifted.
We have two residents with birthdays next week – Carol Moen on December 26th and Bessie Ulland on December 29th. Sun Center resident Violet Rindy also celebrates on December 29th. Staff member Vonda Gunderson has a December 24th birthday, Calie Schilke has one on December 26th and Eric Eken and Emma Tollefson celebrate on December 29th. Happy Birthday and Best Wishes to all of you. Enjoy your special day!
Until next time – a very Merry Christmas from our “home front” to yours. A thought for the week from Bob Hope … My idea of Christmas, whether old fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?
