Greetings from “The Home” front -
The less than perfect weather on Monday did not keep us from celebrating Memorial Day – some residents were able to go with family to cemeteries and Memorial Day programs around town. Others stayed here and listened to fun facts about Memorial Day and its origin – flags were flying in our outdoor areas. Blessed be the memory of our veterans. Tuesday we had Sit & Be Fit with Rhythm Band in the afternoon. We talked about birds and birding Wednesday morning and had lemonade in the afternoon. Thursday brought Name that Tune and then a retirement party for our two activity assistants – Elaine Johnson and Pam Sedler. Best wishes to both of you but we are going to miss you! On Friday there was church in the morning and to celebrate National Donut Day – purple cows and Soholt donuts – what could be better. What’s a Purple Cow??? Grape soda and vanilla ice cream – it really is a great combination and tastes delicious! We have real bingo this Saturday along with Kaffee Hus at 2 p.m. The Saturday movie matinee is Stone Fox – a young boy must win a sled dog race in order to save his grandfather’s cattle ranch. Hmmm – sounds good.
We would like to welcome Sandy Braaten to our activity staff – she will be working a couple of days a week with our residents. Glad to have you aboard Sandy!
Next week brings a van trip on Monday around the Cummings area to see the sights and how the fields are looking. Tuesday will be sit and be fit and rhythm band. There is Wheel of Fortune on Wednesday along with crafts and iced tea on the patio. Molly has a “pop up” card planned for crafts which should be fun. We have choir, bunco and reminisce on Thursday. Friday brings church, pretty nails and happy half hour. Next Saturday (June 10th) Dawn Ludwig’s family is celebrating her birthday at 2 p.m. in the activity room.
We have one resident birthday next week – Happy Birthday to Murlene Morotzke on June 7th. Sun Center residents Delores Evans and Gudrun Harstad also have birthdays – Delores on June 3rd and Gudrun on June 6th. Only one staff birthday – Vanessa DeLaCruz on June 8th. Happy Birthday to all of you and enjoy your special day!
We also have two resident anniversaries next week. Marsall & Marlys Weibe who were married June 4th 1952 and Paul and Katy Wright who were married June 6th 1957. Best wishes to both couples.
Our sympathy to staff member Sheila Rustvang on the passing of her mother Donna Mae Olson who died May 28th. Many of you will also remember Donna Mae as our Kaffee Hus attendant. We also said a final goodbye to Meadowlark Lane resident Audrey Nettum who died May 29th. Audrey enjoyed visits from family and staff, getting hand massages and listening to music. Rest in Peace Audrey and Donna Mae.
Until next time … a thought for the day … Be Positive. Be Patient. Be Persistent.
